IMPROVE YOUR ACTING
Friday 25th to Sunday 27th April 2008
For Students in Years 9, 10, 11 and GCSE students
What does it take to be a good actor? What does it take to improve your acting? This is a fast moving and concentrated course for those who have already acted on stage and want to develop their acting skills.
We will cover a wide range of necessary skills in acting, looking at the way we use our voices, our bodies and our minds in acting.
We will study relaxation technique, and some of the physical skills needed in stage work. To help working with other actors the group will examine listening and sharing skills. Script work will be approached through good vocal technique.
Although we can't cover everything in one weekend it is hoped that we can at least extend your range and teach you a few useful skills to use in your next acting role.
Students should expect to work very hard on this fast moving course in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Be prepared to have your body stretched as well as your mind!
Some sight-reading skills will be needed, and there will be lines to be learnt each night for the next day!
Please wear practical clothing for the course. Loose jeans and soft clothes are essential. Please bring both outdoor shoes and soft shoes (trainers perhaps) suitable for indoor use. You will need to avoid wearing jewellery, piecings, rings, and belts with big buckles.
If you would like an acting part in this play please contact Kilve Court as soon as possible.

Your very own stage school! Kilve Court is presenting Shakespeare's famous play on this 5 day course.
We need actors to be in this production. Students aged 13-17 are invited to join the project. You will not need to audition.
This is your opportunity to perform in a modern dress interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays.
Rehearsals will commence on Monday July 28th at 2pm. Rehearsals will continue through the week and the performance will be on Friday August 1st at 7pm.
The performance will be presented to family and friends in the grounds of Kilve Court. This production will use an edited script to enable us to achieve the highest quality possible.
Although there are no auditions for this production students should have already done some acting, and should be willing and able to learn lines and work very hard.
The interpretation of the play will be in modern dress, and students are invited to bring their own costumes for the show. Students should consider bringing clothes for the performance that they feel are smart and stylist.
We will spend time studying the way to act Shakespeare, discuss the meaning of the play, work on our voice projection, breathing and relaxation, and of course rehearse and learn lines.
